Filing Scam Targets North Carolina Businesses
The North Carolina Secretary of State’s office has recently alerted the public of a compliance filing solicitation scam. The scam includes official looking paperwork from an organization trying to collect a $125.00 fee to prepare corporate records.
The solicitation implies that the State of North Carolina requires corporations and limited liability companies to complete an Annual Corporate Records Form. This is false. North Carolina law does not require you to pay fees to file your Annual Report.
